Courtyard meeting: At the Courtyard meeting held on 28 January 2023, Mr. Abdus Salam, Birulia Union under Savar Upazila said most of the people in our area work in mill/factory’s, workshops and garments. They started arguing over minor issues and later went to the local police station to file a case and they are being harassed more and more by the police. As our area is near Dhaka city, I am having a lot of problems regarding land, it would be very helpful if I get help from the District Legal Aid Office in this matter.
UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting: At the UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting held on the date 28 January 2023 Mr. Shamol Kumar Mondol, Secretary, Sanora Union Parishad, Dhamrai Upazila said we have the budget allocation of the Union Parishad, if any poor person cannot go to the district league office for money, in that case we will cooperate and send them to the district legal aid office. Please inform your clients about this. The People do not know Legal Aid Office so they are deprived of legal facilities Through Union Parishad we have sent two people to District Legal Aid Office, The office assistant of the Legal Aid Office spoke to her and asked her to come to the District Legal Aid Office at a later date with the legal documents, They had to wait for four hours in the balcony of the office. The seating area was broken and lot of people stand by and the balcony was so dirty. The bathroom smelled a lot. The atmosphere was uncomfortable.
School/Student civic Campaign: In the civic campaign by school students on 31 January 2023 Mr, Md. Najmul Hossain Rafi, Shahid Manju Akademy High School Grade -9 said that “we did not know the Legal Aid support issues before, firstly Upazila Manager Md. Mahabub Bhai oriented us Legal Aid issues, how Legal Aid Collaborates with People to Provide Legal Services and Tell Us Where to Get Legal Services Wherever You Go? We will provide them with a Legal Aid helpline number 16430 and also we students will go and message our family and neighborhood people to get legal help and they go to Dhaka Legal Aid Office.
Quarterly Panel Lawyer meeting: The quarterly consultation meeting with panel lawyers was held on 31 January, 2023 and Time 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at CGM Court conference room, District Legal Aid office Dhaka. In these consultation meetings a total of 27 numbers of participants (Male-9, Female-18).
